Roxy was a young Cane Corso–Great Dane cross being rehomed through the rescue, with the likely size and strength of both breeds. Assessment showed a dog capable of learning well, and she was adopted on 10 January 2026 by experienced people prepared for continued training.
Experience mattered more than enthusiasm alone
Roxy’s profile required adopters who could manage a large adolescent safely, provide enough space and continue reward-based work on lead manners and calm behaviour. The rescue did not assume that a large property automatically meant a suitable home.
The selected family demonstrated realistic expectations about growth, strength and repetition. That gave Roxy a chance to mature within consistent rules rather than being moved again when normal adolescent behaviour became difficult.
What assessment showed
Roxy was people-focused, intelligent and eager to engage. She could be boisterous and excitable at the start of a walk, then settle once clear handling and movement gave her something to follow.
Those observations were more useful than assuming every dog of either breed behaves the same way.
A home able to handle strength and learning
Her adopters had the experience and time to continue lead work, boundaries and mental engagement. Training was not treated as a short correction before “normal life,” but as part of the relationship with a large adolescent dog.
The first update
Roxy was already taking regular walks and practising in the new routine. The useful sign was that initial excitement could come down and she could listen, learn and settle with the family afterwards.
